Our 10th meeting of the 2025/26 season was another lively and engaging evening for Dunchurch Photographic Society members.

We began with an update from Mark Ellis, who reported on our recent performance at the Badby Challenge – a friendly but competitive event involving 11 photographic clubs from across the region. We were delighted to achieve a creditable 5th place, finishing just 4 points behind the winning club – a fantastic result that reflects the quality and creativity of our members’ work. Well done to everyone who contributed!

After the update, we moved into the main part of the evening – one of our popular Members’ Evenings. These sessions are always a highlight of the calendar, offering a chance for members to share practical knowledge, experiment with new techniques, and learn from one another in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

The hall was soon buzzing with conversation and creativity. A range of fascinating setups filled the room, each hosted by volunteers demonstrating different photographic techniques. Members had the opportunity to try their hand at still life compositions, low-light colour abstracts, and water droplet photography, among other subjects. Cameras clicked, ideas flowed, and plenty of tips and laughter were shared throughout the evening.

It was great to see such a strong turnout and such enthusiasm from everyone who took part. A big thank you to all who brought equipment, shared expertise, or simply joined in with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Evenings like this perfectly capture what our society is all about – learning, experimenting, and enjoying photography together.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting!

A lovely write-up Simon, thank you. There certainly seemed like a lot of camera activity and chatter amongst the members – one of the key strengths of our group right now. Hopefully, we can lay out more events of this kind in the future.
