John Hughes Trophy \u2013 A Record-Breaking Night for Monochrome Mastery<\/strong><\/h3>

Last night the club gathered for one of the most anticipated events in the Dunchurch Photographic Society calendar: the annual competition for the John Hughes Trophy<\/strong>, awarded for the best monochrome print.<\/p>

This trophy holds special significance within the society. It is presented in honour of John Hughes<\/strong>, a long-standing member whose dedication, artistry, and passion for black-and-white photography left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. His eye for tone, texture, and story continues to inspire the way many of us approach monochrome imagery today.<\/p>

This year\u2019s competition was nothing short of extraordinary. A record-breaking 76 prints<\/strong> were entered\u2014the highest number ever submitted for any single competition in the club\u2019s history. The sheer volume and quality of work on display made the evening both exciting and challenging for our judge, and it stands as a testament to the enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work of our membership.<\/p>

Monochrome photography has a unique ability to strip away distractions and reveal the emotional core of an image. Last night\u2019s entries showcased that beautifully\u2014from atmospheric landscapes and striking portraits to abstract compositions rich in form and contrast. It was clear that members approached this competition with both passion and respect for the medium.<\/p>

Congratulations to all who took part, and especially to Karen Tillett, the winner of this year\u2019s John Hughes Trophy. Your work continues the spirit of excellence that John himself embodied.<\/p>
