The President’s Trophy Competition – A Night of Outstanding Images

Last night saw one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Dunchurch Photographic Society calendar: the annual competition for the President’s Trophy. Often regarded as the Society’s most prestigious accolade, the trophy is awarded for the year’s best Projected Digital Image (PDI)—a title that always inspires members to submit their finest work.

This year was no exception. With well over 80 images entered, the standard was remarkably high, offering a rich mix of creativity, technical skill, and artistic expression. From sweeping landscapes and emotive portraits to imaginative abstract compositions, the breadth of styles on display demonstrated the depth of talent within the Society.

We were delighted to welcome Dave Tucker as our judge for the evening. With such a large and diverse set of entries, Dave certainly had his work cut out. He provided thoughtful, constructive commentary throughout, highlighting both the strengths of each image and opportunities for refinement. Gradually—and with great care—he whittled down the field to a final shortlist of exceptional photographs.

After much deliberation, Dave selected this year’s worthy winner of the President’s Trophy: Elizabeth Bryan. Her beautiful image from Norway captivated both the judge and audience with its impact and craftsmanship. The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause, celebrating a well-deserved achievement.

A huge congratulations to Elizabeth, and well done to everyone who entered. The sheer quality of submissions made this an inspiring and memorable evening. Events like this remind us why the President’s Trophy continues to hold such a special place in the Society’s traditions.
