Dunchurch Photographic Society – Third Meeting of the Season

Our third meeting of the season was a real treat, as we welcomed the Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF) Travelling Portfolio. This annual showcase is always a highlight in the calendar, giving us the chance to see a carefully curated selection of some of the very best work from clubs across the region.

The evening began with a collection of beautiful mounted prints, accompanied by a pre-recorded soundtrack providing thoughtful critique and commentary on each image. It was fascinating not only to enjoy the artistry and technical excellence on display but also to hear the constructive insights that help us all reflect on how to take our own photography further.

After the tea break we moved on to part two: the projected images. Once again, the variety was staggering – everything from delicate macro studies and sweeping landscapes, to intimate portraits and dramatic wildlife moments. The breadth of subject matter really underlined the diversity of talent within the MCPF community.

Perhaps the greatest pleasure of the evening, though, was spotting so many images from our very own Dunchurch Photographic Society members among those accepted into the exhibition. It was a proud reminder of the skill and creativity within our club, and a real inspiration for all of us.

All in all, the MCPF Travelling Portfolio gave us an evening of learning, enjoyment, and celebration of photography at its best – a fitting highlight for our early-season programme.
