On Wednesday 1st December 2021, Dunchurch Photographic Society held their Open Subject Monochrome Print competition at the WI Hall on Southam Road, Dunchurch. The members were playing for the John Hughes Trophy, and they were treated to no less than 38 entries for the 2021/22 season. Any one member was permitted to submit up to three images in accordance with the Society rules.
The judge for the evening was Paul Nickerson from Corby. It was a very competitive event and represented the strength and depth of the members’ collective photographic efforts in monochrome print media. There were landscapes, wildlife, still life, transport and human interest amongst the many different subjects that helped to make the task of judging the competition difficult for Paul!
In all, apart from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed images, there were 7 prints that were Highly Commended, and 8 further prints that were Commended.
As the Chairman of the Society, I thank all of the members who took part in this extravaganza of monochrome prints, and of course to Paul Nickerson for his fair description and critique of all of our images. Very well done to all of the members who had successful prints on this occasion.
Keep going Dunchurch, you never cease to amaze me…
